A study of Picnic Tables and our midweek stirrings

The campground has several styles of picnic tables.

This one is made of thick timber set low to the ground.
These are the newer ones with pipe legs.
Another design though rather warped.
Covered with carvings, old and new.
Wheel chair accessible on the beach
Fishing tackle left hanging in a tree in #16
Children's rock collection

Greetings written in the dirt, "Welcome to Wentachee"

We watched children carry rocks down the hill to create this dry creek bed near the road

We hung up the feeder to see who would arrive.  Stellar Jays, sparrows and,  of course, the chipmunks.  You can barely see their tails off the feeder.

This one was hoping for a peanut at the door.Sonny moves the feeder and creates accessibility challenges
to test the squirrels and chipmunks.

Another bird came to the feeder.  No sure what it is. Larger than a sparrow and smaller than the jay.  Grey with white markings and a square tail.

Another lovely sunset on the lake.

We went over to Port Orchard after our chores on Tuesday.  Federal Way traffic-much heavier than Wenatchee or Port Orchard.
Flowers in the yard were in full bloom.
These lilies smell sweet.

More lilies about to bloom

The dahlias are so vibrant.

After checking on the house, mail and gardens, we headed back to the
campground this afternoon, Blasting on Stevens Pass. slowed the East bound
traffic. It's hard to see but there are 2 guys hanging off the bucket
working along the cliff edge.
Coles Corner, WA, our turn off Rt 2 to Lake Wenatchee

We've been watching an osprey nest in the tall snag along Rt 209.
The mom and babies were there today.  The nest is in the bare
tree to the left of the first telephone pole.
Entrance to the campground

The campground is off to the left from the road going to the lake.

Coming to our campsite.

Sights along the campground road as people return from the
beach

Statues in the water along the beach

The black square in the very middle is our campsite.

Sonny was checking out the tires on this monster truck.

I forgot to bring along my West Coast flower book to see what this is. Prickly fruit and thorny branches
After we returned to our campsite, we walked down to the beach, read some of the mail, caught up with the newspapers and observed the campers.   A woman stopped by the bathroom with a dog, tattoos, hair of several colors, mini skirt, and was "big boned".  Not the typical camper!  Around 7:30 PM,  two campers came to report a campfire.  Even though it's our day off, we donned our "campfire cop" vests, filled the water containers and got in the GEM to take a tour of the sites.  Sure enough, we found a blazing one in #76.  We explained the rules and poured water on the fire.  They were disappointed but understanding about the burn ban.
